Karen Avis - Board Member
Karen earned a BA degree from Chico State University and went on to Masters work in Sociology and Religion. When asked to serve on the Just One Person Board of Directors, Karen gladly accepted and felt it was a wonderful chance to help empower and inspire young African women.
Driven by a Passion
Karen’s feels that her passion for this type of work both locally and abroad are key to enriching her life. Working with non-profits is a comfortable fit for Karen, who grew up volunteering every summer at a YMCA camp in the San Gragonio Mountains.(1973-1979). She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Chico American Cancer Society(1984-1988); was employed at Faith Lutheran Church as a Jr./Sr. High Youth Director(1983-1995) and volunteers annually at an orphanage in San Vincente, Baja.
Kim Kurnizki - Board Member
Kimberly Kurnizki is a mother, advanced energy healer, and artist/illustrator, who brings more than 23 years of financial management experience in both for-profit and non-for-profit endeavors to the Just One Person board.
Committed To An Idea
Kimberly is very committed to the idea that beneficial actions of one person have very far reaching implications for our world community, and with access to both tangible and intangible resources, every individual is intrinsically equipped to bring about positive change.
Beverly Thomassian - Board Member
A nationally recognized speaker and consultant, Beverly is currently serving as a diabetes program manager and is an assistant clinical professor in the graduate nursing program at the University of California, San Francisco.
A Passion for Improving Lives
Beverly is an author, nurse, educator and clinician who has specialized in diabetes management since 1993. As founder and President of Diabetes Educational services, she is passionate about diabetes education. For the past 10 years, her company has served to improve the lives of people with diabetes through professional education and training.
Gary Incaudo - Advisory Board Member
Dr. Incaudo is a practicing Allergist in Chico, California and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California at Davis. Under the auspices of the University of California, Dr. Incaudo has lectured at the medical school in Nairobi, Kenya and to physicians in Mauritius.
The Incaudo family helps promote programs that address women and children in need. In 2000, they established a Family Foundation to provide scholarships for low income women, particularly single women with children struggling with the conflicts of getting an education and raising a family.
Reagan Schaplow - Advisory Board Member
Dr.. Reagan Schaplow is a family care resident at Contra Costa County Hospital in Martinez California. She earned a B.A. degree in Multicultural and Gender studies from Chico State University and her M.D. from Drexel School Of Medicine in Philadelphia.
A Special Focus on Needs of Women
While attending the university, Reagan served as the director of the Chico State Women's Center, where she spearheaded several empowerment projects for women, including "Take Back the Night", a sexual violence awareness program.
